The Perfect Republican Representative
The much ballyhooed and protested Republican National Convention got under way this week in New York City. Where better to exploit the grief of a nation for one’s own personal benefit, than the place forever traumatized by a foreign attack? As a thousand caskets made their way down the busy borough’s streets, cops cracked out plastic strip handcuffs to detain those rowdy bicyclists and Zell Miller (D-Ga.) took to the podium as a keynote speaker. He made the usual American pie references then tossed out that tied old canard about John Kerry being a “weapons killer” or one who has “opposed the very weapons system that won the Cold War and that is now winning the War on Terror”, as he put it. In fact, Zell Miller went on in his righteous indignation, “Kerry would arm our military with spitballs!”
Now I would hope that it is seldom we actually see an elected official sink to the depths it would require to drag out a piece of Internet spawned Urban legendry to forward their bigoted opinions. If you go on to read the entire linked Urban Legends page I’ve referenced it will EXPLAIN just how misleading this statement is, that in fact, the three bills do not even refer to the ‘laundry list’ of weapons, but were actually legislation, which would’ve covered the entire fiscal budget for governmental expenses. This means everything FROM housing facilities to waste management to and anything else in between. A senator might vote against a bill for a host of reasons, it could be because something was left out. So Mr. Miller’s harangue is a bit trumped up at best, considering this information has been flying around the Internet since February of 2004.
Still what else should we expect FROM this man? As my dear friend Len* has already made the case on the Salon Des Refuse Mr. Miller’s actions are in stark violation of the Democratic Party’s Charter, namely:
Article one, Section six:
Section 6. Work with Democratic public officials at all levels to achieve the objectives of the Democratic Party
Which brings us to Article 2, Section 5 ( c )
(c) Failure of any member of the National Committee to declare affirmatively his or her support for the Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees within thirty (30) days after the adjournment of the National Convention shall constitute good and sufficient cause for removal
So Zell Miller’s actions are so disenfranchising as to merit being removed FROM the party or at the very least to SHOW starkly he’s really not a Democrat in anything but name only, so why not switch to the side he actually favors?
But Mr. Miller won’t do that will he? Not when he’s a southern man, located in a part of the country where being a democrat is so much more useful. No, it suits his operative needs to serve as a phony Democrat, so that he can prop up the other party and lend more weight to his smear tactics.
Now, I’m not a big supporter of partisanship, guys, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the regular Joe should register for a party and stick strictly to their candidate, never to be swayed. However, I’d say the rules are different when you’re an elected official aren’t they? How can your selected party ever hope to forward their platform (which by the way you ought to fully support to begin with if you’re going to be a member of said party) when they have members running around selling out to the other side?
I guess that’s rather the point.
Mr. Miller is an imposter. An appointed opportunist who most likely would’ve given in to Trent Lott’s persuasions and switched to the Republican Party years ago if only he’d been a little bit younger. Sadly this shows him to be a traitor and a fraud. Hmm..traitors, frauds and bad actors. What a group. To my way of thinking, this makes him the perfect representative for the mean spirited Neo Con Controlled Republican Party of today. Let’s hope our friends on the right make a break FROM that particular GROUP in the future.
* I highly recommend reading Len’s original article forecasting this situation. A brilliant write up FROM a prescient man.

heh. “Weapons killer”. No doubt people will be stupid enough to believe it too. Like the Smear Boat veterans who were debunked by the Washington Post, numerous websites, and four (so far) people on Bush’s campaign have been busted with close ties to them…
…Yet people are still wasting their money on “Unfit for Command”.
You would think they would spend their time making the case for why Bush should be re-elected, but instead it was a Kerry/Democrat hatefest.
Then again…. what can Bush stand on besides terrorism? The economy? The record deficit? Lost jobs? The environment? The underfunded “No Child Left Behind” which schools (already hurting for money) are buckling from?
Yeah, give me the flip-flopper. At least I know he’ll weigh both sides of an argument.

Yea, as my friend Len has recently posted over at the Salon Des Refuses (today) the DNC response was to point out just how Zig Zag Zell is singing a new tune now and ignoring the same things done by the Republicans. Bottom line: This is all manufactured BS to sell his book it would appear.

Oh man.
Anyone getting wounded in service to our country was apparently made INTO a big joke at the RNC convention. (via Atrios.)
I can see who they were targeting, but I don’t see how that isn’t a slap in the face to ANYONE who bled for our freedom.
Holy shit.

Oh man, wasn’t that a hoot?
And now the Republicans who were bragging about their “get” of a Democrat to speak against Kerry are distancing themselves FROM him.
Zell just royally screwed himself with both parties now.
There’s a difference between mavericks and traitors, and Zell certainly landed himself in the second catagory.

Well, considering I was Disappeared by the NYPD this week for over 30 hours for just being around their precious convention, the republicans can say whatever they want abut Kerry. I don’t believe them, and I’m not voting for Bush…they’re liars, all of ‘em!
