You know I never believed in love at first sight
Until the day I first held you in my arms
Through the lightning storms I’d come to you
And I’d hold you tight
I vowed to keep you safe from any harm
And with a paper crown, you blew out your first candle
Such a lovely girl so different from the rest
And on that day I prayed you would always stay
My little princess…
I wrote that song when you were six months old, Erika. It was a rough and scary time for all of us as things were touch & go with you. A dumbass babysitter decided to give you a bath and left you in a room with a window open as your mom and I went out for dinner on a cold February night. We spent Valentine’s day in Schenider’s Children’s Hospital, after your tiny little heart and lungs were failing on you from pneumonia.

I was quite taken back with Reverend Mykeru’s writeup on Pope John Paul II’s passing.
I’ve been mainly of the Protestant brand of Christianity, so the Pope always represented the “wrong” kind of Christianity, though I never took a hatred to Catholicism like Jack Chick did.
Actually, I really liked this Pope. Sure he was “a funny little guy with the beanie” and the butt of a lot of my jokes sometimes, but all in all he was a good man who had the task of holding together a dying and archaic institution, wracked with scandals and falling apart at the seams.

As much as I’d love to go to everyone’s site and leave a comment… I know I won’t have the time.
Have a Merry Christmas, everyone.
Contrary to the latest rubbish by Bill “Phone Sex” O’Reilly…. Christmas is not under attack by anyone. I can name plenty of atheists and non-Christians on the right as I can on the left… so please take your self-imagined persecution and go and ruin someone else’s holiday, ok?
Christmas is in my heart… not on some nativity scene in my neighbor’s lawn or in front of a courthouse.
It’s not about how much is under your tree.
It’s not about how many cards you get.
It’s not about politics.
It’s about love, charity, good cheer and togetherness.
It supercedes all religions and all races.
It’s about giving and caring for those less fortunate than me.
It’s about magic and children’s faces lighting up with surprise and joy.
It’s about Peace on Earth… Good will to all.
And it’s all good.

While revamping my Daily Carlinisms, I stumbled on this at George Carlin.Com:
"…Floating around the Internet these days, posted and e-mailed back and forth, are a number of writings attributed to me, and I want people to know they’re not mine. Don’t blame me."
Right now, he’s doing what we in marketing call “protecting his brand“. A “brand” is an abstract concept that invokes trust and reputation. This is why someone will buy Tylenol instead of the big-ass bottle of acetaminophen next to it, at half the price.
When you think of the name “George Carlin”, a certain level of quality in comedy comes to mind (Another good example is “Microsoft”).

One of my comedic heroes, Rodney Dangerfield has passed away.
Some of his great one-liners have been collected here.
Rather than have my typical fits of rage at moments like this, exclaiming “It should have been YOU!!!”, I choose to remember the good times and all the laughs this time. I’m gonna rent Back to School, and raise a glass of coke in his honor.
I still think it should have been you, though.
