Simply put, I’m a snarky, sarcastic, jaded bastard.
I value my All-American rights to free speech and voicing my opinions… regardless of who I piss off. (Don’t get me wrong, I realize I am a reflection of my employers to a certain degree, so I *DO* excercise a certain level of responsibility and accountability in all I do and say). But I despise having to self-censor myself.
Oh and did I forget to mention that I helped make websites and strategies for two campaigns? One Republican and one Democrat. Both were facing major hurdles as underdogs but in the end, they won in landslides.
Yes, this is why some of us colorful web personalities are hired by candidates. Though we have a ton of skeletons in our archives, we’re incindiary, controversial, riveting and damned good at what we do in commanding attention.
Which brings us to the “Brawl of the Week” (hat tip to Wulfgar).
John Edwards, Amanda Marcotte & Melissa McEwan -vs- Michelle Malkin, William Donohue & The Fighting 101st Keyboarders
The Plot: Right Wingers dig up dirt from the archives of Pandagon and Shakespeare’s Sister and demand Edwards fire his bloggers for their content.
The Review: Manufactured outrage by people with skeletons in their own closets who would never vote for Edwards anyway… so why even listen to them? Read the rest of this entry »

Republican Senator reminds Atty General Gonzales ‘President does not have a blank check’
Can I get a HELL YEAH!
Checks and balances, baby! That’s why the power is split in three equal parts in our government.
I can’t express how much this all makes me nervous. I was under the impression that the CIA and the FBI have “watchlists”. They know who the badguys are, they’re keeping tabs on them. So why is this “Surveillance Program” so urgent and vital to the War on Terror?
Now to all the sheep in this country that reason all their rights away with “Go ahead, I’ve got nothing to hide! Nyuk! Nyuk!”. Chew on this:
Specter told Gonzales that even the Supreme Court had ruled that “the president does not have a blank check.” Specter suggested that the program’s legality be reviewed by a special federal court set up by the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
Gonzales then panicked, sputtered more pre-fabricated talking points, rhetoric about how the sky is falling and freaked out as this curveball wasn’t covered in his cue cards from the White House…
So I ask our Federal Government the same question… why not run it past the Federal Court and check it for legalities?
You have nothing to hide, right?

Now Wulfgar’s and Rabid Sanity’s posts are worth discussing!
For too long the right and left wing in the blogosphere has reduced the other side with straw men and caricatures. You know, right wingers are nazis and left wingers are traitors. Enough already! I became a registered independant back in 2002 because I couldn’t take this partisan bullshit.
I’ve also seen time and time again someone critical of the Bush administration get instantly shut up when asked the question: “Well, you complain a lot… but what is YOUR solution to the problem?”
So here you have an intelligent discussion by intelligent people that clearly respect each other’s views… and unlike many right/left sites, they actually want to HEAR what the other side has to say.
KUDOS TO THE BOTH OF YOU!
The old adage “You’re either part of the solution, or you’re part of the problem” immediately comes to mind.
Me? I’m part of the “I’m tired of all the bullshit” brigade.

(My initial thought when reading that headline was “he has a soul”???)
Saddam says he’d offer his life for Arab cause
In letter, ex-dictator would sacrifice “soul, very existence” to end occupation
AMMAN - Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has said in a letter he would sacrifice himself for Arab nationalism and to end foreign occupation.
He’s kidding, right? This is the same guy that talked his head off right up until the Iraq War… then went into hiding until soldiers pulled him up from a spider hole six months later looking like a derelict??!!?
I mean, look… my views on the Iraq War aside, this guy is a douchebag.
Yeah, we armed him to fight Iran. We installed the Baath party in the 60’s and he’s been on the CIA payroll ever since, and he was “our” douchebag.
But he’s still a douchebag.
He has long praised Palestinian militants waging suicide attacks against Israeli targets.
See what I mean?
I would have preferred a CIA Op putting a bullet in his skull (and his crazy ass sons) rather than launch an illegal war… but either way, I find it hard to feel sorry for this guy.
WAAAAAAAAAH, Saddam!
