Now Wulfgar’s and Rabid Sanity’s posts are worth discussing!
For too long the right and left wing in the blogosphere has reduced the other side with straw men and caricatures. You know, right wingers are nazis and left wingers are traitors. Enough already! I became a registered independant back in 2002 because I couldn’t take this partisan bullshit.
I’ve also seen time and time again someone critical of the Bush administration get instantly shut up when asked the question: “Well, you complain a lot… but what is YOUR solution to the problem?”
So here you have an intelligent discussion by intelligent people that clearly respect each other’s views… and unlike many right/left sites, they actually want to HEAR what the other side has to say.
KUDOS TO THE BOTH OF YOU!
The old adage “You’re either part of the solution, or you’re part of the problem” immediately comes to mind.
Me? I’m part of the “I’m tired of all the bullshit” brigade.

I feel I need to share that with you.
If charsets were athletes, UTF-8 would be in the special olympics and have a special handicap sticker on it’s car!!! GAWD!!!! ARRRRGH!!!!
Currently I’m doing a MySQL database which features musicians with lots of wild schwas and tildes and accents. My host (for reasons that elude me) now has it so the data converts to UTF-8. So artists like Mel Tormé and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen turn into illegible words with question marks.
This is why I still use ISO-8859-1 for my charset, I mean how will Mötley Crüe survive the internet with such a restrictive and retarded charset like UTF-8??? I have since had to drop my “®” from WHUZZUP!® because most feeds crash from it.
So if you need these funky characters you can use this chart.
Whoever you are that came up with UTF-8… I hate you too.

I just stumbled on this trying to find out what the hell happened to Reverend Mykeru…
Kinja Card for WHUZZUP - It’s… it’s…
Well, I don’t know what it is, but it’s pretty cool! And it ties in to Technorati, Way Back Machine, Alexa and all sorts of goodies. Read the rest of this entry »

“Usually when people are sad, they don’t do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.”
-Malcolm X
“Be that change you want to see in the world.”
-Ghandi
Usually on this day, I can look all over the web and someone, somewhere is reshaping Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. into a supporter of their cause. You name it. He’s for/against the Iraq War, he’s suddenly a vegan and a card-carrying member of PETA, he’d join the fight for gay marriage.
Frankly, I doubt the last one. As a man of the cloth, I’d imagine his view of homosexuality would be very much the same as any religious figure… I *DO* see the parallels, and this is a matter of Civil Rights and equality… and even in his own words “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” ring true in this case.
