I’m one of those average bloggers that occasionally posts something interesting here and there - and usually it’s just my opinion. Here, however, it’s opinion but it’s opinion armed with references. LOL. It’s almost frightening… but usually a great read that makes you sit up and take notice. This particular article interests me greatly because it’s subject matter has always been shrouded in plausible supposition. Then to look further into how such supposition is wielded by people in power, it should make us very afraid.

Exactly my point.

We have one guy that thinks he’s the messiah (Moon), another guy who thinks God talks to him (Robertson), and a President listening to the two of them that can make Armageddon possible with one push of a button. Oh, and let’s not forget Falwell who stated “I believe the Antichrist is a Jewish male alive today” (as if there ISN’T enough anti-semitism in the world).

It’s either we debunk the Fundie theory that Babylon (Iraq) has to fall, theocracy in the U.S., one world government, and a great war called Armageddon has to happen for Christ’s return… or it’s going to become a self-fulfilling prophesy with a little help from religious nuts who are getting antsy because Jesus has once again missed their deadline.

Scary ain’t it?

No… it’s so much easier for Fundies to use “Bible Prophecy” as an excuse to keep centuries-old hatred and bigotry going. I’m surprised no one has started the argument to reinstate slavery yet.

It’s the kind of thing that always happens when you let someone else interpret the Bible for you. It ends up being their own interpretation. Funny how that works.

Fantastic post, =e=! I continue to be in awe of your knowledge and careful research on the subject of Christianity. It is made all the more significant by the fact that you are a christian. (or so I’ve been told). This is the kind of tedious work that needs to be done on a grand scale to debunk these charlatans! For most folks who are paying attention extremism/fanaticism is spotted as the quackery it is and that its rooted in self serving purposes most likely. Generally money and power, what else? Otherwise why hasn’t the Falwells of the world given all that they have to the poor? Those are the instructions.

How you consider false prophet? You have to study your prophecy, and your bible. Read the entire bible and let the bible interpret itself. Thank you.
